We can see for miles and miles...

Please listen while reading

We left Chicago headed through Iowa, where we had the time of our lives at the World's Largest Truckstop.

In case you missed it, see here

After Iowa it was Nebraska, Nebraska, Nebraska, and.......Nebraska and peanuts.

Oh by the way, John Wayne says hi!

We spent the night in North Platte. You should check it out sometime, there is an airport.
But make sure you know where you are going because this may happen to you...

We were up and on the road at 7:30am the next morning. Next stop Aspen, Colorado.

A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words

You're not gonna believe what we stumbled across in Walcott, Iowa...
Brock (D's boyfriend) says we're starting to look alike...

There's nothing we can write to transmit the feelings we experienced today. So come relive it with us. Enjoy!

They have everything here...

We would like to send a special thank you to Mike Balzano, the person who quite spontaneously came up with our official trip brand. Without you, we'd just be two supposed yoga-instructors on a road trip.

But now, and forever, this will live on as...

Tada!!!!!!!!!!! Personalized hats.

And you (and we) thought it couldn't get better than a dentist at a truckstop. Pshaw.

Sweet home Chicago

Finally back home.  With our day off I got to show C around the greatest city in the world, Chicago.

We switched it up today, instead of sitting for hours on end we went for a stroll....

I showed C Millennium Park where we did some yoga, ate lunch, and drank a few Chicago brews.

C and I in tree pose at The Bean.

C takes a nice stretch in wheel at the theater.

Me getting my up-dog on

I even introduced C to a new guy, Garrett (sorry Jeff-he's a little sweeter)

A Chicago favorite-Garrett's caramel pecan popcorn.

As night time rolled around it was time to carbo-load for our next big trip, we went out for dinner at Francesca's with the family.

After spending a night soundly sleeping, it's time to get back on the road again with an upgraded car. Thanks ma for swapping cars!

A huge thanks to my whole family for giving us a nice place to sleep, unpacking and reloading my car, and introducing C to deep dish pizza!

Dad in down dog after work in a suit! What a great sport!

On the Road Again...

http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=1TD_pSeNelU&feature=kp

Here's what happened between Brooklyn and Chicago. If you don't have a pacemaker, you might want to get one before reading on- it'll get your blood flowing!

Then D made new friends...
(I like this one better)

We got the friendly Dutch welcome...

Then decided we'd had enough and these trucks weren't going anywhere so...
BOOM!! We Asana-ed our way into another state. Take that highway 80.

Then somehow we were suddenly in Indiana. So suddenly, that I didn't get a chance to snap a shot of the warm welcome. So we're not sure if Indiana welcomed us warmly, but we're assuming it did.

So ya, a wild day to be sure. And if it weren't for Ira Glass and John McConnell, we'd probably still be in the parking lot of Beepbooptown Ohio, debating which would be the less regrettable lunch option- Subway, or Ye Old Sandwich Shop.

Right around the time the acoustic cover of Wrecking Ball came on (John I don't know how you ever found that song but well done!), the impossible happened. The clouds parted, and we had finally arrived.  It's like the road warrior gods took pity on our lack of stimulation and offered unto us a state with a city.
Perhaps better- a city with deep dish pizza.

THANK YOU.

New York, New York

The first leg was a success before we even hit the road- D texted me at 8:30am, and I immediately replied, which meant that miraculously, neither one of us was hung over. D's clothes and shoes were molded to the shape of the trunk, I had a spot for my suitcase, we were ready to soar. So we soared.
First stop- Brooklyn, C's parents' house.
C's dad. The urban gardener, pourer of wine, and orchestrator of who's-ordering-what at the restaurant.

True, Brooklyn is a little bit of a detour but who can resist the promise of kimchi rice and Chamomille grappa at The Good Fork in Red Hook?
Yes, Chamomille grappa.

Also, conveniently located near the best view of the most touristy of NYC attractions, the lady herself.
Not exactly your traditional truck stop. But we spread the yoga love...
They're VERY good sports.

As I'm writing this, I ask D if anything funny happened last night that I should include.

"Um... Your dad..." 😊

Thank you S and big D for a very flavorful and restful first night. Onward, D, The Windy City is growing impatient!

What did we forget...?

Leaving C's house, get ready USA. These gals will strike a pose anywhere. Shamelessly. First stop: NYC. No. sleep. TIL BROOKLYN!!!!

I HAVE SO MUCH STUFF!

D here!

After graduating high school I had a one track mind- move out and NEVER move back home. Throughout my undergrad, while most of my friends would do the summer/winter swap with all their clothes, I just kept cramming more stuff into my room.  Every Christmas break I'd travel to Chicago with a half packed bag of dirty laundry and return with one giant suitcase from all my presents, thanks Santa!

So now I'm done with Vermont and moving to Washington and I'm stuck with an accumulation of crap from the past 4 years.

A huge thanks to my family for taking home 4 giants suitcases after graduation, and my godmother for taking my 2 pairs of skis and snowboard, but still it doesnt even feel like the tip of the ice berg.

With my lease ending last week, I moved out of my apartment sold my furniture and transported all my stuff to the Oasis- thanks boys for letting me crash!!!

I've now taken over their storage unit, office, parts of their kitchen and basement :)

5 days left, hoping to find a way to  make all of this (and Catherine) fit in my car.

Luckily I was able to get rid of some things...
