The first leg was a success before we even hit the road- D texted me at 8:30am, and I immediately replied, which meant that miraculously, neither one of us was hung over. D's clothes and shoes were molded to the shape of the trunk, I had a spot for my suitcase, we were ready to soar. So we soared.
First stop- Brooklyn, C's parents' house.
C's dad. The urban gardener, pourer of wine, and orchestrator of who's-ordering-what at the restaurant.
True, Brooklyn is a little bit of a detour but who can resist the promise of kimchi rice and Chamomille grappa at The Good Fork in Red Hook?
Yes, Chamomille grappa.
Also, conveniently located near the best view of the most touristy of NYC attractions, the lady herself.
Not exactly your traditional truck stop. But we spread the yoga love...
They're VERY good sports.
As I'm writing this, I ask D if anything funny happened last night that I should include.
"Um... Your dad..." 😊
Thank you S and big D for a very flavorful and restful first night. Onward, D, The Windy City is growing impatient!
